IS IT FOR YOU?

We answer honestly, before you book.

This experience is for those who love the mountains, respect animals and want to live them as a protagonist, not as a mere spectator.

Here you're not a passenger. You're part of the team.

Sleddog is a sport in which the musher and the dogs work together, with mutual respect. We want your experience to be exactly what it should be: unforgettable. Because a great adventure, chosen with awareness, gives you beautiful memories forever.

THE QUESTIONS YOU'RE ASKING YOURSELF

First of all, the biggest doubt

Do I drive, or am I carried?

You drive, if you weigh more than 30 kg. After a briefing of about 15 minutes, you're the one leading the team: in front of you there's always an instructor opening the trail, but you drive the sled. Those who weigh less than 30 kg are carried as passengers, on the instructor's sled.

Will I be able to do it physically?

It takes moderate physical effort. For about an hour you're an active part on the sled and, on the uphill stretches, you step off and help the team by pushing. You don't need to be an athlete, but it's important to be in good health. Before departure we'll explain everything in the briefing, and the instructor will always be with you.

"It's a real sport and it's hard work, but that's exactly why it's extremely rewarding."

Is it hard to drive the sled?

No, if you follow the briefing instructions. The commands are simple and the dogs already know their job: your task is to be with them, help them, not to order them around.

THE QUESTIONS YOU'RE ASKING YOURSELF

Safety and dogs

Can I fall?

Yes, it can happen. In the safety briefing we explain how to stand on the sled and what to do if you lose your balance. By following the instructions, you can fall without consequences: it's part of the sport, like skiing.

Is it safe?

The safety of people and dogs comes before everything else: that's why the briefing and the rules are strict. We've been doing this for over 30 years, with thousands of guests accompanied every year.

Do the dogs run by themselves, on command?

Their urge to run has a name: it's called "Desire to run", and it's written in their DNA, without any coercion. But it's not enough just to get on and let them go: they need to be guided, and your presence on the sled is essential to give direction to this energy. You're the one who drives them, sets the pace and keeps a safe distance from the sled ahead. You're the musher!

CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

Can you come with the little ones?

From what age can you take part?

From age 3 you ride as passengers, carried by the instructor on their sled. Driving your own sled is possible only later, from age 7, once you're over 30 kg and reach at least 1.20 m in height.

Can I take my child on my sled?

No. For safety reasons, the little ones travel only on the instructor's sled. It's not allowed to carry children, relatives or friends on your own sled.

How much do you need to weigh to drive?

To drive your own sled you need to weigh more than 30 kg and be at least 1.20 m tall. Those below this threshold ride as passengers with the instructor.

"A magical moment with my family."

PRACTICAL RULES

Times, punctuality and weather

Do you do sleddog even when it snows?

Yes. We go out in any weather, except rain: Siberian Huskies love the cold and the snow, and with fresh snow the atmosphere is even more magical.

And if it rains?

In the rain we don't go out, for the dogs' wellbeing and your safety. If rain is forecast at altitude, you'll be contacted and we'll move the excursion to another date. The same applies to extraordinary snowfalls with closed roads. In these cases of force majeure there's no money refund, but rescheduling to a new date is guaranteed.

PRACTICAL RULES

Clothing, language and tickets

What to wear for the excursion?

Snow boots, warm and waterproof. Snowboard boots are fine too.

You cannot take part with ski boots, trainers or footwear unsuitable for the cold.

Better to dress in layers, with a waterproof windbreaker, gloves, hat, sunglasses and suitable clothing, as for a day of mountain hiking: here you sweat going up and feel the cold coming down.

What language is the briefing in?

Briefing and excursion are guaranteed in Italian and English. French, at the moment, is not always guaranteed: if you need it, call us to check. If you understand neither Italian nor English, unfortunately you can't take part: understanding the briefing is essential for your safety and the dogs'.

Do I need to print the booking tickets?

No, you don't need to physically print the tickets.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING

Physical and health conditions

Driving a sled requires the use of hands, arms and legs, good eyesight and the ability to understand the briefing and put it into practice. Physically, you need to be in good health and have the stamina to be an active part for about an hour, with moderate effort. Some conditions don't allow this to be done safely: if they apply to you, write to us before booking , so we can assess it together.

Ongoing pregnancy

For safety, it's not possible to drive the sled during pregnancy.

Recent fractures

Those who have recently suffered a fracture cannot take part in the driving: the effort and the possibility of a fall make it risky.

Prostheses, physical or motor limitations

There's no single answer: it depends on the case. Write to us before booking, describing your situation. Sometimes the solution is to ride as a passenger, sometimes it's to give up. We decide together, with you.

Disability

It must be communicated before booking.

Down syndrome and autism:

taking part is possible.

Blindness and absence of upper or lower limbs:

they don't allow safe driving. In these cases too, write to us: sometimes you can ride as a passenger.

It's not a prejudice, and it's not discrimination.

They're the only things we put before everything: the safety and wellbeing of every participant, of our dogs and of the whole group. If you have a doubt about your case, ask: we always answer.
